Who we are

This website is operated by Monarch Builders South East LTD ("we", "us", "our"), a builder and electrical contractor based in the UK. For any question about this policy or your personal data, see the contact details on our Contact page.

What we collect, and why

We collect personal data when you actively give it to us — we don't buy in contact lists or collect data about you from anywhere else. This happens when you:

• Request a quote — your name, phone number, email, and postcode/project location, plus details of the work you're enquiring about. We use this to assess your enquiry and get back to you.
• Use the cost calculator — the same contact details, plus the project specification you build in the calculator, if you choose to email yourself a copy of the estimate.
• Sign up for a home care subscription — your contact details and address, to set up and administer your plan. No payment card details are collected through this form.
• Contact us directly — by phone, WhatsApp or email, in which case we hold whatever you tell us during that conversation.

The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry, and/or taking steps to enter into a contract with you (e.g. carrying out building work you've asked us to quote for).

Cookies & similar technologies

When you first visit, we ask whether you're happy for us to use non-essential cookies for analytics. Nothing beyond what's strictly necessary for the site to work runs until you actively accept — and you can change your mind at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer of every page.

• Strictly necessary — a small amount of local browser storage remembers your cookie choice itself, and (during a quote request) a referral code if you arrived via a referral link. These aren't optional, as the site can't function correctly without them, but they don't identify you personally.
• Analytics (only with your consent) — if you accept, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, general location, device type), and our own first-party visitor identifier to do the same for our internal reporting. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (typically _ga and similar) and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. If you choose "Necessary Only", none of this runs.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We do use a small number of third-party services to run the site and business, who process data on our behalf:

• Email delivery — enquiry notifications and confirmations are sent via a transactional email provider (Resend and/or our email host's SMTP service).
• Analytics — Google Analytics, only if you've consented (see above).
• Payments — if you ever pay us online, card payments are processed securely by Stripe; we don't see or store your full card details.
• Hosting — the website and its database are hosted with our infrastructure provider, who stores data on our behalf but doesn't use it for their own purposes.
• WhatsApp — if you message us via the WhatsApp link on this site, that conversation is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy, not ours.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and customer data for as long as we have an ongoing relationship with you, plus a reasonable period afterwards for accounting, warranty and legal purposes (typically up to 7 years for anything tied to a completed job, in line with standard UK record-keeping requirements). If your enquiry doesn't turn into a job, we aim to delete it within a reasonable period if it's no longer needed — contact us and we're happy to do this sooner on request.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data, or restrict how we use it
• Object to us using your data for analytics or marketing
• Withdraw cookie consent at any time (see Cookie Preferences above)

To exercise any of these, get in touch via our Contact page. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — the date at the top shows when it was last revised.
